Job title –Tourism Director for Liberty/Casey County

Responsibilities and Duties

The Tourism Director for Liberty/Casey County will network within the community to (1) improve quality of life for residents of Liberty and Casey County; (2) promote civic-engagement and community participation in beautification projects and revitalization of downtown areas; (3) collaborate with existing projects and events; (4) assist in marketing new and existing programs, projects and events;  (5) maintain and update web/social media presence for Liberty and Casey County; and (6) enlist community support for seasonal projects and  community events.

Daily duties can involve meeting with community members and officials; project planning; grant writing; connecting people with community resources; creating informational/promotional materials and reports; managing digital forms of communication such as Web sites, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to highlight Liberty/Casey County Community events, projects and opportunities; and  collaboratively planning and implementing community projects and events.

The Tourism Director for Liberty/Casey County will report to the Liberty Tourism and Convention Commission. Funding for this position will be provided by the commission.

Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:

  • Outgoing personality and ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (one-on-one and in group contexts), strong listening skills, patience, humor, and perseverance
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously
  • Positive, proactive and personable team player
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a collaborative team
  • Experience with social media and digital communication
  • Experience in community organizing work (volunteering or in paid positions)
  • Strong oral, written and online communication skills
  • Proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Be a resident of Casey County
  • Experience in facilitating meetings, training and focus groups
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet program requirements and community needs, including evening and weekends
  • Driver’s License & Car (Auto insurance required)
  • A minimum of a two-year associate degree (preferably in business, marketing, communication or related degree) or 5 years of experience in a similar position.

Work Location:  10 county service area: Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne.

Work Hours: Normal work week is typically Monday-Friday; 8:00 am- 4:30 pm; 37.5 hours per week

Job duties include:  Assess basic and or MNT nutrition status of individuals and develops a basic and/or MNT nutrition plan appropriate for each client according to programmatic criteria with increased independence. Interprets current research regarding basic nutrition and MNT and provides technical assistance and consultation for other health care professionals. Other responsibilities may include assessing community nutrition needs; developing and implementing community events and programs; collaborating with state and community agencies; planning and delivering in-service training for public health personnel. Maintains quality of services in accordance with agency policies and as outlined in the WIC & Nutrition Manual and Administrative Reference. Obtains National Provider Identification number for reimbursement for MNT services.

Requirements:  Must be a Licensed Dietitian (LD) by the KY State Board of Licensure and Certification as provided in KRS 310.021 or be certified as a Certified Nutritionist (CN) by the KY State Board of Licensure and Certification as provided in KRS 310.031.

Required: Experience: MNT II: One year experience as an LD/CN or one year providing Medical Nutrition Therapy.

Substitution Clause: Master’s degree in human nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition, community nutrition, food systems management or related area may be substituted for one year of experience.

Required: Experience: MNT III: Three years of experience as an LD/CN or three years providing Medical Nutrition Therapy.
